Job summary

Emergent Software is seeking a Database Engineer for a remote, US-based role. You will partner with software engineers to review SQL changes, assess performance, and refine data models while supporting incident triage and governance.

This is a collaborative, engineering-driven environment where your database expertise will shape performance, reliability, and data governance across multiple applications. Residence in the US and authorization to work without visa sponsorship are required.

Qualifications

• Proficient in SQL and SQL Server performance considerations.
• Experience with data modeling and data access patterns.
• Familiarity with AWS infrastructure (EC2, RDS).
• Ability to collaborate with software engineers and application teams.
• Experience supporting production issue triage or troubleshooting database issues.
• Strong communication to explain impacts, risks and recommendations clearly.
• Pragmatic problem-solving with ownership and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Review SQL and stored procedure changes with engineers.
• Assess impact on performance and downstream applications.
• Support database-related incident triage and production issue remediation.
• Improve data models and access patterns; strengthen governance practices.
• Collaborate with architecture and engineering to advance database practices across teams.
• Contribute to future database projects (monitoring, DR, SQL upgrades).
• Provide guidance to teams on shared data and application-layer needs.
