Job summary

BMO is seeking an experienced Lead Data Business Analyst to drive end-to-end data-centric investment solutions within the Global Asset Management group. You will gather requirements, document BRDs, and ensure data lineage and governance across investment datasets, working with cross-functional teams and external providers.

The role focuses on data quality, portfolio data, reporting, and analytics, with hands-on SQL/Python, and visualization skills to enable self-serve analytics for business

Qualifications

• Typically 7–10 years of relevant experience in business or data analysis in financial services.
• Strong knowledge of investment data and asset management operations.
• Proven experience gathering requirements and producing BRDs, functional specifications, user stories, and data lineage documentation.
• Hands-on experience with SQL, Python for data analysis, automation, and test validation.
• Experience with Power BI and other visualization tools (Tableau, Spotfire).
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Azure Data Lake, Databricks).
• Agile delivery methods and data governance practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders to understand business objectives and data needs.
• Translate objectives into BRDs, functional specs, and acceptance criteria.
• Document current and future state data processes and data flows with traceability.
• Perform end-to-end data lineage from sources to reporting and analytics.
• Analyze, profile, and reconcile data using SQL and Python to identify gaps.
