Job summary

University of California, Merced is seeking a Data Services Administrator to lead the Data Services team within Advancement Services, overseeing the administration, integration, and optimization of key information systems including donor and alumni CRM, online engagement platforms, and payment portals.

The role combines strategic oversight with hands-on management to ensure data integrity, accurate reporting, and scalable solutions supporting advancement goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related area from an accredited institution.
• 5 years of experience working with Advancement/Alumni/Development databases (e.g., Raiser’s Edge / Raiser’s Edge NXT, Salesforce, PeopleSoft, Banner, CRM/ERP systems) required.
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining dashboards and analytical reports using business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent), with responsibility for data modeling, validation, and user training.
• Experience working in a public research university environment characterized by shared governance and complex departmental structures preferred.
• Experience supervising technical staff, including mentoring/training, performance management, and workload prioritization preferred.
• Experience with financial applications and financial reporting is preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of advancement operations and data structures (constituents, gifts, relationships, households, prospect management) preferred
• Advanced knowledge of advancement CRMs (e.g., Raiser’s Edge/NXT, Encompass, Salesforce, or Ellucian Advance).

Responsibilities

• Administers donor and alumni database and payment portals, maintains user accounts, data integrity, and reporting.
• Meets with end-users to analyze needs and designs tailored reporting solutions.
• Designs custom and ad-hoc reports to monitor fundraising performance and provide data-driven insights.
• Supervises a staff of two Data Services Staff, including performance management and development.
