Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC seeks a Data Platform Engineer to drive modernization of a healthcare data platform in a remote capacity. You will architect cloud-native AWS data solutions, migrate XML object stores from MSSQL, and enable SQL-based reporting for business users.

You will collaborate with back-end engineers, implement IaC with CDK/CloudFormation, and drive cost/performance trade-offs across AWS services while maintaining documentation and secure data workflows.

Qualifications

8+ years of software or data engineering experience with a strong AWS focus.
Proven experience architecting and migrating cloud data platforms in production.
Experience delivering reporting or analytics for non-technical users.
Strong SQL skills for relational querying over XML/JSON.
Experience with XML-heavy data stores and healthcare data is a plus.

Responsibilities

Lead modernization of the healthcare data platform.
Evolve from MSSQL/XML object store to cloud-native AWS architecture for scalable reporting.
Choose AWS data services based on cost, performance, and needs.
Design and build SQL-based reporting layers for business users.
Architect XML object store migration and data organization for fast queries.
Maintain AWS data catalog, schemas, and metadata management.
Optimize query performance and cost across AWS services.
Collaborate with stakeholders and engineers to translate requirements into data models.
