Job summary

Onward Search is seeking a Data Operations Specialist for a remote, temporary role supporting higher education publishing operations. You will manage distribution-channel data, validate and reconcile information across third-party platforms, and partner with sales and cross-functional teams to improve metadata workflows.

The role emphasizes data quality, process improvements, and serving as a subject-matter expert for distribution processes while collaborating with external partners.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in operations, process execution, and data management in cross-functional environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Strong Excel skills, including the ability to work with large datasets and perform detailed analysis.
• This person will be working on large database and manipulating the big data.
• Candidate should have experience in Accounting & Billing.
• Must have experience in Excel, Pivot tables, and SQL Queries. Salesforce is nice to have.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience acting as a primary liaison across stakeholders.
• Preferred: Exposure to data analysis/visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day support for channel partnerships, including data alignment and reconciliations with external partners and internal stakeholders.
• Monitor, validate, and reconcile data transmitted across third-party distribution platforms, escalating discrepancies as needed.
• Drive process improvements for metadata management and information-sharing workflows with distributors.
• Partner with sales and go-to-market teams on channel operations processes and support dispute escalations as directed.
• Support multiple operational initiatives as an external-facing representative and internal subject matter expert for distribution processes.
