Job summary

Canal & River Trust seeks a Data Migration Lead to own end-to-end data migration for ERP transformation. You will map, transform and validate data across source/target systems and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure data quality and timely delivery.

The role involves planning, ETL development, and engagement with business users, under a flexible remote-working model with hub visits to Leeds, Newark, and other hubs.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in data migration, ETL development or data engineering.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, database systems, data mapping, transformation and cleansing techniques.
• Experience designing and executing ETL processes using tools such as Databricks, Azure Data Factory (ADF), Talend, Informatica, SSIS or similar.
• Strong SQL and data analysis skills, with the ability to write complex queries for data extraction, validation and reconciliation.

Responsibilities

• Data Migration Planning: Develop and deliver end-to-end data migration strategy, plans and schedules for ERP transformation.
• Data Analysis & Discovery: Assess legacy data structures, volumes and dependencies with stakeholders to identify critical data sets.
• Data Mapping & Transformation: Lead data mapping and transformation to align source and target systems.
• ETL Development & Execution: Design and execute ETL processes using Azure technologies (Databricks, ADF, SQL).
• Data Quality & Cleansing: Profile, cleanse, standardise and validate data to improve quality.
• Testing & Validation: Plan and execute migration testing with business users and test teams.
• Documentation & Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain mapping specs and validation reports; update project stakeholders.
