Job summary

Independence Pet Group seeks a Data Governance Analyst to support and manage technology platforms enabling the organization''s Data Governance program.

You will act as the primary technical resource for governance technologies and partner with Data Governance, Security, Engineering, Legal, and business stakeholders to support cataloging, metadata management, MDM, privacy compliance, data quality, and program execution.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or related discipline.
• Hands-on experience implementing and administering data catalog platforms, including metadata management and catalog engineering.
• Experience building and operationalizing a Data Stewardship Program from the ground up.
• Strong knowledge of data governance principles, metadata management, data cataloging, data lineage, and stewardship best practices.
• Experience supporting or administering Databricks Unity Catalog or similar governance platforms.
• Familiarity with Master Data Management (MDM) solutions and data quality management processes.
• Ability to collaborate across Data Governance, Security, Engineering, Product, and business teams.
• Familiarity with data governance frameworks and governance operating models.
• Experience measuring and reporting governance adoption, data quality, and operational metrics is preferred.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to translate technical concepts into business-friendly language.
• Passion for improving data quality, governance maturity, and organizational data literacy.

Responsibilities

• Administer and manage the Data Catalog in partnership with the Data Governance team.
• Lead the data catalog roadmap, including metadata collection, asset onboarding, data classification, glossary development, and lineage documentation.
• Support and administer Unity Catalog with data asset registration, metadata management, and access governance coordination.
• Collaborate with data owners, stewards, and engineering to improve data discoverability and governance adoption.
• Design and lead the Data Stewardship Program aligned with catalog deployment and governance objectives.
• Serve as administrator for Osano, managing enhancements, incidents, and vendor coordination.
• Support MDM platforms and governance processes, including stewardship workflows and data quality initiatives.
• Monitor governance adoption, metrics, and usage trends; recommend process and tech improvements.
• Support governance projects and strategic initiatives as needed.
• Develop governance documentation, standards, and operational procedures for scalable data management.
