Job summary

CVS Health is hiring a fully remote Data Engineer to join the Data Engineering team. You will design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and platform infrastructure powering a self-service data platform, collaborating with engineers to modernize ingestion, transformation, and data serving.

You will build reliable pipelines, write optimized SQL, and contribute to data modeling on Snowflake while leveraging Kafka for real-time ingestion and applying CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• 2 years of professional data engineering or software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, including writing, optimizing, and troubleshooting complex queries against large datasets.
• Experience with a cloud data warehouse or data platform (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Azure Synapse, or Databricks).
• Proficiency with Git-based version control and code review workflows.
• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and automated deployment workflows (GitHub Actions).

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and improve data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes using Python.
• Write and optimize SQL queries to support data ingestion, transformation, troubleshooting, and validation.
• Contribute to data modeling efforts and maintain dataset integrity within the Snowflake data platform.
• Integrate with Kafka-driven event streams for real-time data ingestion under guidance.
• Write clean, well-tested code with unit and integration tests for pipeline components.
• Participate in code reviews and uphold team quality standards.
• Contribute to CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions and validate pipeline correctness post-deployment.
• Implement logging/observability instrumentation and respond to production alerts on-call rotation.
• Communicate blockers and progress clearly; escalate issues with urgency.
• Leverage AI development tools (Claude, Snowflake CoCo, Copilot) to improve speed and quality.
• Seek mentorship from senior engineers and share learnings with the team.
