Job summary

First Citizens is seeking a Data Engineer II to join our Data Platform Engineering Organization. This remote role is open to candidates in NC, AZ, FL, and TX and focuses on building scalable cloud data solutions that empower analytics and data-driven decision making.

You will design and maintain data pipelines using AWS, Snowflake, dbt, Python, and SQL, implement data quality controls, and collaborate with business partners to deliver reliable data assets and dashboards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or related field.
• 2+ years in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, Cloud Data Platforms, or related disciplines.
• Experience with cloud data platforms and modern data processing technologies.
• Strong Python and SQL skills for ETL/ELT and data integration.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and support scalable data pipelines and cloud-based data solutions using AWS, Snowflake, dbt, Python, SQL.
• Implement data warehouse solutions, dimensional models, and ETL/ELT processes to support reporting and analytics.
• Create data quality validations, test cases, and controls to ensure accurate data assets.
• Develop and maintain data tests (including dbt tests) for quality and reliability requirements.
• Support workflow orchestration, monitoring, troubleshooting, log analysis, and production ops using Airflow and cloud-native tools.
• Collaborate with business users, product partners, analysts, and tech teams to deliver data solutions aligned with business goals.
• Follow engineering standards, documentation, and testing procedures to ensure high-quality delivery.
• Participate in pipeline deployments, environment promotions, and CI/CD processes.
