Job summary

First Citizens Bank is seeking a Data Engineer II to join our Data Platform Engineering Organization and help build scalable cloud-based data solutions that empower analytics and data-driven decisions across the bank. The role focuses on data pipelines, data warehouses, ETL/ELT, and modern data engineering practices using AWS, Snowflake, dbt, Python, and SQL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in data engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
• Alternative: high school diploma or GED with extensive data engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and support scalable data pipelines and cloud-based data solutions using AWS, Snowflake, dbt, Python and SQL.
• Implement data warehouse solutions, dimensional models, and ETL/ELT processes for reporting and analytics.
• Apply data quality validations, tests, and controls to ensure accurate and reliable data assets.
• Develop and maintain data tests (including dbt tests) to support quality requirements.
• Support workflow orchestration and production ops using Airflow and cloud-native tools.
• Collaborate with business users, product partners, analysts and tech teams to deliver data solutions.
• Follow engineering standards, docs, and testing to ensure high-quality delivery.
• Participate in pipeline deployments and CI/CD activities to promote environments.
• Leverage AI-powered tools to improve efficiency, code quality, and delivery outcomes.
