Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Database Engineer to join the Life Science Data Warehouse team. You will design, automate, and maintain large-scale data pipelines that integrate clinical and claims data into Life Science products using AWS tech such as Redshift and EMR.

In this role, you will collaborate with analytics and cross-functional teams, contribute to data modeling decisions, and support regular data warehouse builds and deployments.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of AWS experience (Redshift/EMR/S3).
• 1+ years of relational database programming (e.g., Oracle or SQL Server).
• 1+ years of Python programming experience.
• 1+ years of experience working with clinical and/or healthcare claims data.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test Redshift/EMR-based solutions and AWS infrastructure to support ETL processes within CI/CD pipelines.
• Monitor system and data pipeline performance, identify issues, and implement corrective actions to improve data quality and operational efficiency.
• Analyze and reconcile discrepancies between business expectations and data structures.
• Collaborate with analytics and cross-functional teams to optimize, scale, and enhance data processing methodologies.
• Provide recommendations and feedback on database design and data modeling decisions.
• Support weekly and monthly data warehouse build and deployment processes.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including database objects, design specifications, and test plans.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute innovative ideas for new products and solutions.
