Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. is seeking an Application Engineer for Data Centers to serve as the technical voice of customers in the data-center market.

This remote-friendly role sits on the SEF team and covers design, qualification, training, and field rollout with OEMs, EPCs, and data-center operators. You’ll own design-in, run joint development, and provide evidence to win specifications, while collaborating across Sales, Product, Engineering, and Marketing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field or equivalent applied experience.
• Experience selling or specifying data center projects, construction, electrical or infrastructure.
• Working knowledge of mechanical joint design, fastener selection, torque/tension, corrosion and vibration behavior.
• Reading drawings and specifications; CAD 3D (SolidWorks preferred) a plus.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills; customer-facing experience.
• Program management: multi-project coordination and timely action closure.
• Knowledge of quality practice (APQP, PPAP, root cause analysis) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design-in and specification: engage early to write SEF joints into OEM drawings and master specs.
• Joint development and qualification: lead reviews, trials, and validation with customers.
• Industry fluency: know data center codes, standards, seismic, grounding, NEC/UL, NFPA.
• Voice of the customer: feed insights to Sales, Product Management, Engineering, Marketing.
• Solutions delivery: provide samples, mock-ups, and live demos to show joint work.
• Field problem resolution: own escalations with root cause and corrective actions.
• Collaboration: work with SEF, Sales, product, and operations across verticals.
• Competitive positioning: maintain evidence-based comparisons on install time and cost.
