Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a Customs & Trade Compliance Specialist to support import/export operations and ensure compliance with U.S. and international trade regulations.

This fully remote role collaborates with logistics, purchasing, finance, customer service and sales to manage duties, classification, and documentation. This contract-to-hire position is based out of Sparta, TN, offering pay between $38.46 and $52.88 per hour and focusing on HTS classification, export controls, and trade program

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in customs compliance, import/export, or international trade.
• Strong knowledge of HTS classification and U.S. Customs regulations.
• Understanding of country-of-origin requirements and import documentation.
• Experience working with customs brokers and freight forwarders.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across departments.
• Familiarity with trade programs (e.g., USMCA) and compliance processes.

Responsibilities

• Classify products using HTS codes and maintain records.
• Review and verify import/export documentation for accuracy.
• Collaborate with brokers, forwarders, and internal teams on compliance.
• Monitor regulatory changes and assess impact on operations.
• Support audits and implement process improvements.
• Identify duty savings opportunities while maintaining compliance.
