Job summary

Aston Carter is sourcing a Contract Trade Compliance Specialist for a Lake Forest, CA assignment. The role focuses on accurate HTS classification, origin determinations, and USMCA qualification analysis, partnering with suppliers and internal teams.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of trade compliance experience, strong knowledge of U.S. customs rules, and hands-on ERP/MRP experience. This contract position offers hybrid work with on-site days in Lake Forest.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in trade compliance or related field.
• Solid knowledge of U.S. Customs rules, HTS, tariffs, valuation, and recordkeeping.
• Experience with import documentation and customs compliance.
• Ability to analyze product specs for classification and origin.
• Strong documentation and organizational skills for multi-SKUs and audits.
• Excel skills: sorting, filtering, lookups, data reconciliation.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems for SKUs and trade data.

Responsibilities

• Perform HTS classifications and determine country of origin for products.
• Conduct ADD/CVD reviews and maintain supporting documentation.
• Obtain and analyze BOMs, specs, and supplier certifications for determinations.
• Communicate with suppliers to obtain classification data and USMCA details.
• Review customs entry data for accuracy and support post-entry audits.
• Maintain trade compliance records and reporting per regulations.
• Support audit readiness and track corrective actions.
• Escalate complex issues to Trade Compliance Analyst or leadership.
• Add new SKUs to ERP and classify per HTS/origin.
• Assess tariff derivatives and mitigation opportunities.
• Manage incoming shipments from a trade compliance perspective.
• Collaborate with logistics to meet import documentation requirements.
