Job summary

New Vista KY in Lexington, Kentucky, is seeking volunteers for the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Volunteers will provide critical support to individuals in crisis, helping them to develop safety plans and offering emotional support.

The position requires at least 18 hours of volunteering per month and includes comprehensive training. Ideal candidates are compassionate, respectful of diversity, and committed to assisting those in need.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience/education related to mental health, suicide, and/or substance use.
• Demonstrates respect for diversity.

Responsibilities

• Answer crisis or emotionally distressing calls.
• Assess suicidality and caller risk using the C-SSRS.
• Help the caller with coping skills and safety plans.

Skills

Customer service experience

Ability to work as a team member

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
