Job summary

United Way of Northeast Florida seeks a Crisis & 988 Specialist to respond to contacts on the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and the 211 Information & Referral services. You will provide immediate emotional support, crisis intervention, and connect individuals to community resources.

The role emphasizes reflective listening, motivational interviewing, cultural humility, and up-to-date documentation, with cross-training for 988 and 211 operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human services, public health, or related field preferred.
• Minimum one year experience in human services, crisis intervention, or related field.
• Strong empathy, communication, and cultural humility for diverse communities.

Responsibilities

• Respond to contacts through 988 Lifeline and 211 via phone, chat, text, email, and other channels.
• Assess needs and provide crisis intervention, suicide risk assessment, information and referral services.
• Develop safety plans and implement crisis intervention strategies for those in distress.
• Engage emergency services if there is imminent risk and document all interactions thoroughly.
• Maintain knowledge of community resources and follow agency policies and procedures.
