Qualifications

• CPC certification through AAPC and maintenance through ongoing education.

• Ability to perform all coding/billing tasks including surgical coding, with HIPAA and payer rule knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Serve as expert resource for coding and updates in practice settings.
• Review operative and diagnostic reports to validate ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS codes and modifiers.
• Ensure clean claims by verifying required details (provider, date, place of service) and compliance with guidelines.
• Provide QA support, train colleagues, and escalate issues to minimize rejections.
• Adhere to Yale Medicine policies and participate in ongoing training and education.
• Collaborate with management to identify educational opportunities and system edits for accuracy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
