Multnomah County Health Department seeks an on-call Medical Examiner to review cases under the Medical Examiner jurisdiction, determine causes and manners of death, and certify death certificates. This 100% remote position supports the county's mission to safeguard health and equity while handling variable caseloads.

Responsibilities include reviewing medical records, law enforcement reports, and narrative data; signing certificates using OVERS; and participating in required trainings.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active unrestricted license to practice medicine in Oregon.
• Must be able to pass a background check (may include fingerprinting).
• Ability to obtain appointment as County Medical Examiner.

Responsabilités

• Review cases under Medical Examiner jurisdiction to determine cause and manner of death (excluding homicide/suspicious deaths, child deaths, or cases requiring autopsy).
• Review narratives, medical records, law enforcement reports, scene photography, and toxicology results to determine cause and manner of death.
• Certify the manner and cause of death for cases the Medical Examiner investigates.
• Sign death certificates via OVERS electronic signing process.
• Provide weekly case investigation information for death certificates.
