Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in criminal justice, EMS, fire protection, or related field with two years investigations experience.
• Ability to respond to death scenes within 60 minutes when on call.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Experience writing investigative reports and presenting to courts is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Investigate death scenes to determine cause and manner of death.
• Examine evidence at scenes and identify decedents; transport to morgue.
• Assist in autopsies and morgue preparation; collect and preserve evidence.
• Prepare death certificates, subpoenas, and legal documents; testify in court.
• Interact with survivors, hospital staff, and law enforcement; maintain records.
