Job summary

Travelers is seeking a Counsel to join our virtual office in Salt Lake City, Utah, with a hybrid remote work arrangement. You will handle a caseload of insurance defense matters from inception through trial, draft pleadings, conduct legal research, and advise claim partners and clients.

The ideal candidate has a JD, active license in the state(s) and 3+ years of defense litigation experience, with strong writing and advocacy skills, and the ability to travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of insurance defense litigation experience as a practicing attorney.
• Active license in good standing to practice law in the state(s) in which representation is required.
• Jur is Doctorate or equivalent International legal degree; graduate of an accredited law school.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply effective litigation skills to try cases to verdict or negotiate resolution.
• Conduct legal research and write persuasively for filings and briefs.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and other documents.
• Attend court events, depositions, and other appointments independently.
• Provide case analysis and recommendations to insured clients and claim partners.
