Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a senior Couchbase DBA to support production and non-production clusters remotely. The role demands extensive expertise in Couchbase administration, cluster management, upgrades, security, monitoring, and automation to ensure high availability and performance.

You will design scalable architectures, tune SQL++ (N1QL) queries, implement XDCR and DR, manage backups, and partner with application and cloud teams to optimize data workloads.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of Couchbase administration experience.
• Experience managing Couchbase clusters and troubleshooting.
• Experience with upgrades, security, monitoring, and automation.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support Couchbase database clusters across production and non-production environments, ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance.
• Design and implement scalable Couchbase database architectures, including cluster configuration, data modeling, replication, and capacity planning.
• Perform database performance tuning, SQL++ (N1QL) query optimization, indexing, and troubleshooting of database-related issues.
• Manage database backup and recovery, disaster recovery (DR), failover, and Cross Data Center Replication (XDCR).
• Plan and execute Couchbase upgrades, patching, cluster rebalancing, and database maintenance with minimal business disruption.
• Monitor database health, resolve production incidents, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and implement preventive measures.
• Implement database security standards, including RBAC, encryption, auditing, and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and cloud teams on database architecture, migrations, automation, and performance optimization initiatives.

Roles & Responsibilities

The annual salary for this position is between $73,350 $115,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and is subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
