Job summary

Child Care Aware® of Kansas is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to oversee internal operations, budgeting, and organizational systems while guiding cross‑functional teams in a remote role with priority for Kansas residents. You will report to the Executive Director and partner with the finance, programs, and HR leaders to drive organizational performance.

The role requires strong leadership, budgeting, and change management skills, along with a commitment to equity and service quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, nonprofit management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in organizational operations, administration, or management, including supervising staff and leading teams.
• Knowledge of Kansas early childhood education and child care systems preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day organizational operations across departments.
• Supervise and support staff and leaders, including performance management and development.
• Lead internal leadership and operational meetings to set priorities and monitor progress.
• Coordinate communication across departments to support goals and address challenges.
• Develop and implement operational plans aligned with strategic priorities.
• Oversee financial management, budgeting, procurement, and reporting.
• Lead technology transitions and system implementations; ensure effective workflows.
