Job summary

Child Care Aware® of Kansas seeks a Chief Operating Officer to oversee internal operations, administration, and organizational management. The COO will provide cross‑department leadership, implement strategic priorities, and support growth and effectiveness across the organization.

Remote role with priority given to Kansas residents. The position offers extensive benefits and opportunities to advance a mission‑driven nonprofit focused on Kansas child care systems.

Qualifications

• Experience overseeing internal operations, including budgeting and administrative functions.
• Experience leading organizational systems, policies, and process improvements.
• Strong communication and collaboration with executive leadership and staff.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations and coordinate activities across departments.
• Supervise staff and leaders, including performance management and development.
• Lead internal leadership and operational meetings to set priorities and monitor progress.
• Coordinate budget development and financial reporting with staff.
• Oversee HR functions, recruitment, onboarding, and policies.
• Manage technology transitions and system implementations.
• Promote organizational effectiveness through process improvement.
