Blacksmith Agency is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to lead the day-to-day of a remote agency serving US clients. You’ll run sales, recruiting, delivery and marketing, reporting to the founder.

The role centers on profit and operational leadership, not just strategy. You should have a proven sales leadership background within an agency or professional services environment, with experience managing multiple functions and scaling teams.

Qualifications

• Must have a sales background with experience leading sales teams and P&L responsibilities.
• Agency experience in digital marketing, SaaS, or professional services is preferred.
• Experience running multiple functions (sales, recruiting, delivery, marketing) under one leader.
• Track record of growing a company or department and managing headcount.
• Proven negotiation skills on contracts and with stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills to align four department leads and the founder.

Responsibilities

• Owns four department leads, their metrics, development, reviews, and accountability.
• Sets weekly cadence, quarterly priorities, and prioritization when conflicts arise.
• Manages profit by evaluating margins, hiring costs, and which business to pursue or decline.
• Leads commercial discussions: client contracts, vendor terms, and deal terms.
• Builds strong operators into actual leaders with coaching.
• Makes day-to-day decisions alongside the founder.
