Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Controls Project Manager to lead large mechanical construction projects in the local area with travel to customer sites as needed. You will ensure profitable project execution from planning through closeout, delivering on time, within scope, and within budget while meeting safety requirements.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent Associate’s degree with experience, plus at least five years in project management on construction

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture, or Associate’s Degree with related experience.
• Minimum five years of direct project management in building construction.
• Experience managing complex projects with multiple subs and scopes.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in PM software and financial accounting systems.
• Strong PC skills in MS Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project; familiarity with Adobe Writer and Visio.
• Commitment to obtain PMI/PMP certification within two years of employment.
• Ability to travel as required by project assignment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the on-site execution for assigned mechanical construction projects and coordinate the project team through completion.
• Support sales and project development activities early in the TAS and development process, including vendor/partner selection and risk assessment.
• Develop project schedules and manage execution against plan.
• Review contract scope and assess impact of directives and scheduling changes.
• Pursue change orders, prepare cost estimates and proposals, negotiate settlements.
• Manage costs, billings, and project financial performance to support profitability.
• Maintain project document controls and ensure compliance with contract requirements.
• Oversee construction work for compliance with specs, codes, safety requirements.
• Coordinate materials procurement schedules and delivery.
• Build relationships with customers, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Coordinate with CMS, HVAC, and branch teams to align resources.
