Job summary

Everforth Apex Systems is seeking a Sr. Controls Engineer to lead programming for distribution center projects in Orlando with remote/hybrid work flexibility.

You will implement and commission Rockwell/Allen Bradley PLCs and HMIs, develop PLC/HMI programs from scratch, and oversee onsite commissioning with cross-functional teams. The role requires 5+ years of controls programming in a build shop, strong knowledge of distribution equipment and VFDs, and travel up to 30% with periodic onsite

Qualifications

• 5+ years of in-depth controls programming experience in a build shop environment.
• Expert-level knowledge of Rockwell/Allen Bradley PLCs and HMIs.
• Experience with VFDs, conveyors and distribution equipment.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics or Controls Engineering preferred.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% and onsite Orlando periodically.

Responsibilities

• Lead large project programming creation and guide other Controls Engineers.
• Develop PLC and HMI programs from the ground up.
• Oversee onsite project implementations and commissioning.
• Design controls and communication architecture, including PLCs, I/O distribution, and Ethernet communications.
• Program devices such as conveyor systems, MDR, VFDs, scanners, and printers.
• Provide controls and electrical engineering technical support to internal and external teams.
• Commission instrumentation and distribution center systems.
• Coordinate with Electrical Engineers, System Architects, and Project Managers.
