Job summary

Darkhive is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead and strengthen its accounting function during a growth phase. The Controller will own accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, payroll oversight, and government-contracting compliance, reporting to the senior finance executive.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership in accounting.
• Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger, revenue recognition, and internal controls.
• Experience owning monthly and annual close processes and coordinating external audits.
• Experience developing accounting policies and scalable controls.
• Experience managing and developing accounting professionals.
• Experience with Unanet and related financial-system integrations.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and ensure accuracy of financial records and statements.
• Serve as the primary technical accounting expert ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP.
• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, fixed assets, inventory, cost accounting, and revenue recognition.
• Develop reporting for executive decision-making, Board/investor communications, FP&A, and project profitability analysis.
• Lead external audits, manage tax compliance, and maintain audit-ready records.
• Oversee cash accounting, bank covenants, and lender reporting.
• Support M&A and other strategic transactions including financial diligence.
