Job summary

Cherry Bekaert Recruiting & Staffing is conducting a search for an experienced Controller on behalf of a well-established government contractor. This role is onsite in Chevy Chase, MD five days a week, with potential for one remote day in the future.

You will direct all accounting operations and lead a 10-12 person team, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with FAR, CAS, and DCAA. This highly visible position reports to senior leadership, oversees month-end close, audit

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience.
• Experience in government contracting; familiarity with FAR, CAS, DCAA.
• Experience with Deltek Costpoint, JAMIS, or similar government contracting ERP systems.
• U.S. Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Direct all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, treasury, and financial reporting.
• Lead and develop a team of approximately 10-12 accounting professionals.
• Oversee month-end close, financial statement preparation, and management reporting.
• Perform and review monthly balance sheet account analyses.
• Prepare and review cash, AP discount, and capitalization reports.
• Review and approve applications for new credit arrangements.
• File necessary returns quarterly for federal fuel credits.
• Manage audit, tax, compliance, and internal control activities.
• Assist with the preparation of Branch financial analyses and internal audits.
• Supervise/handle international payroll/correspondence and audits.
• Perform financial analysis and provide reporting and recommendations to executive leadership.
• Drive process improvements and ensure adherence to government contracting regulations and accounting standards.

This is a highly visible role and works directly with senior leadership. This role is expected to be onsite 5 days a week with the potential for 1 day remote over time.

Primary Responsibilities

• Direct all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, treasury, and financial reporting.
• Lead and develop a team of approximately 10-12 accounting professionals.

• Experience with Deltek Costpoint, JAMIS, or similar government contracting ERP systems.
• Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Strong analytical skills.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
