Job summary

Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs (SEE) seeks a senior Contracts & Compliance professional to own the end-to-end contract lifecycle and interpret labor regulations for independent contractors across multi-state programs. The role designs compliant frameworks for partnerships within a fast-paced nonprofit environment.

Exempt, fully remote position requiring coordination with external counsel; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Law degree, MBA, MPA or similar is highly preferred.
• Experience in high-volume compliance or legal operations.
• Drafting and negotiating high-volume legal documents including amendments, MOUs, and NDAs.
• Expertise in contractual laws for worker classification and IRS/DOL standards.
• Experience managing employment agency audits or similar regulatory reviews.

Responsibilities

• Streamline and optimize the contract lifecycle for a heavy volume of contracts and amendments.
• Lead drafting, detailed review, and execution processes with precision.
• Collaborate with external counsel for complex contracts and negotiations.
• Oversee at least one employee, set goals, conduct reviews, and coach.
• Communicate with project directors to ensure fair and clear terms.
• Apply knowledge of labor codes for contractors in collaboration with HR.
• Ensure contractor agreements and onboarding comply with IRS guidelines for charities.
• Develop contracts with international parties within government requirements.
• Align contract values with project balances and market rates.
• Support audits and regulatory inquiries with Senior HR Director; strengthen decision-making.
