Job summary

IREN is seeking a Construction Superintendent - Controls/Automation to lead installation and commissioning of BMS, PLCs, DDC, and automated interfaces in high-performance data centers. The role requires hands-on site supervision, cross-trade coordination, and strict safety practices in a dynamic construction setting.

Responsibilities include supervising controls deployment, coordinating trades, and ensuring schedule adherence while maintaining quality.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in commercial or industrial building automation and controls.
• Experience supervising controls and automation deployment on data centers, HVac, liquid cooling loops, and central utility plants.
• Strong knowledge of industrial control systems, communication protocols, network architecture, and field instrumentation.
• Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, P&IDs, control drawings, SOO, I/O lists, and manufacturer specs.
• OSHA 30 certification required; plus First Aid/CPR, competent-person, fall-protection, NFPA70E certificates are a plus.
• Ability to plan manpower and coordinate with trades to meet targets.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and supervise controls technicians and subcontractors.
• Plan daily activities and monitor productivity to meet milestones.
• Oversee installation, wiring, and mounting of control panels, PLCs, DDC controllers, sensors, and network hardware.
• Review schematics, networks, sequences, and submittals before field work.
• Oversee point-to-point checks, calibration, loop tuning, and functional testing of control loops.
• Maintain neat cable routing, labeling, grounding, and panel tidiness.
• Coordinate automation sequencing with mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and other teams.
• Support commissioning, IST, and data center tests by troubleshooting loops.
