Job summary

Dorsey & Whitney LLP is seeking a Conflicts Attorney to research, review, and resolve conflict of interest issues related to new matters and lateral hires. Remote-friendly with offices in Minneapolis, Denver, Seattle, Phoenix, or Salt Lake City, you will collaborate with Ethics Counsel and Recruiting to facilitate matter openings and ongoing maintenance.

Requirements include a JD from an ABA‑accredited school, active bar membership, and at least 2 years of conflicts experience, including Intapp

Qualifications

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school and active bar membership.
• At least 2 years of experience clearing conflicts, drafting waiver letters, reviewing and implementing outside counsel guidelines, and implementing ethical walls at a large law firm.
• At least 2 years of experience with Intapp Conflicts.
• At least 2 years of experience opening matters for lateral hires at a large law firm.
• Strong interpersonal and professional communication skills; ability to work with people at all levels.
• Knowledge of rules of professional responsibility.
• Ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Research, review and analyze conflicts reports to accurately identify potential conflicts and assist attorneys in addressing or resolving them.
• Identify potential conflicts of interest to ensure compliance with conflict and risk management policies and applicable rules of professional conduct.
• Advise firm attorneys regarding the status of conflicts clearance and ensure timely matter openings.
• Use the firm's software and databases to review and clear potential conflicts and document steps taken.
• Assist with drafting conflicts waivers and establishing ethics walls as requested.
• Review engagement letters and assist with revisions to language addressing conflicts and ethics requirements.
• Respond to attorney questions regarding potential conflicts, waivers and new business intake policies.
• Review client outside counsel guidelines and assess the firm’s ability to comply.
• Stay current with laws and rules pertaining to conflicts of interest.
