Job summary

Target is seeking a Competitive Intelligence Lead to help shape strategic direction through rigorous market and competitive analysis. You will oversee insight programs, coordinate with finance, strategy, and operations teams, and deliver impactful narratives that influence senior leadership decisions.

The role requires a 4-year degree, 5+ years of relevant experience, and strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 4-year professional education in finance, accounting, economics or related field, postgraduate education strongly preferred
• Minimum 5 years of experience in venture capital/finance/corporate development or similar
• Strategic thinker with demonstrated analytical and strategic reasoning skills grounded in quantitative analysis
• Proven ability to lead strategic venture work while managing a working group, partner and leadership relationships
• Ability to articulate and communicate complex findings to focus on business issues and opportunities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tell compelling business and results stories with data
• Curiosity and eagerness to learn with a strong drive to deliver results in challenging areas
• Experience or strong understanding of retail or CPG industry preferred

Responsibilities

• Make learning plans and schedules to convey proactive insights and knowledge for center rivals to support Target's strategic direction
• Act as a subject matter expert for the group in discerning significant competitive intelligence from financial performance and investment strategies
• Own a comprehensive and broad toolbox of qualitative and quantitative data sources and translate those into actionable strategies and narratives
• Develop schedules and pointers to maintain ongoing monitoring of competitor elements and identify forward-looking implications
• Build trusted relationships and coordinate collaboration with stakeholders across the Venture to amplify impact of work
• Create integrated, compelling and meaningful reports for senior leaders to inform their direction
• The competitor will be responsible for maintaining the following connections as a whole
• Reports to Head of Competitive Insight and collaborates closely with all Essential Knowledge colleagues
• Ongoing working relationships with strategy development, strategic planning, finance, and insights capabilities across the organization
• Other key partnerships with Marketing, Merchandising, Digital, Food & Beverage, Stores and Growth
