Job summary

Stride, Inc. is seeking a Community Engagement Specialist for North Carolina Virtual Academy (NCVA).

This remote role focuses on engaging families, coordinating Strong Start with Learning Coaches, and promoting effective communication among students, families, and staff. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in education or related field and 2 years working with families, plus willingness to travel 25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, Counseling, Human Services or related field of study
• Two (2) years of experience work with families in a similar capacity
• Equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to clear required background check.

Responsibilities

• Manages Strong Start process for new students and Learning Coaches
• Facilitates Strong Start orientation sessions
• Tracks invitations, engagement and communication with the student to increase attendance
• Documents the Strong Start process within the school and in the school handbook
• Oversees weekly office hours/help sessions to support new families through the Strong Start process
• Serves as a liaison between the student, Learning Coach and teachers to ensure contact and communication
• Facilitates professional development on family engagement practices for school staff
• Develops Learning Coach education programs and training with K12 national programming
• Provides online parent enrichment trainings on goals, learning styles, schedules, time management, etc.
• Works with stakeholders to foster community involvement (Learning Coach Mentor, University, Volunteers)
• Supports state and local testing processes with focus on family engagement
• Works on re-registration activities with school leadership and national teams
• Connects families to national K12 programming to engage students
• Marketing competitions, student clubs, and academic competitions
• Provides individualized support to students and Learning Coaches identified for training gaps
