Job summary

Coterie Insurance is seeking a Property Claims Specialist to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve commercial property claims. You will collaborate with claims leadership, internal partners, and external stakeholders to deliver timely, accurate outcomes while upholding regulatory and carrier guidelines.

The role requires 5+ years in property and casualty claims, strong communication and negotiation skills, and licensure across applicable states.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of work experience at an insurance company or insurer supporting property and casualty claims.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced evolving environment with independence and initiative.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategy to drive resolution of Commercial Property claims of moderate to higher severity/complexity.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams on processes, product, and initiatives.
• Investigate claims and review insured materials and reports.
• Identify and assess coverage issues; draft coverage letters; engage coverage counsel when needed.
• Develop strategies on coverage issues aligned with overall matters entrusted to your care.
• Analyze coverage and damages to estimate reserves and advise on reserves.
• Maintain a claims diary, post reserves timely, respond to inquiries from insureds, counsel, underwriters, brokers, and management.
• Negotiate resolutions of claims.
• Direct initial risk transfer, subrogation actions, and indemnity issues; ensure equitable contribution.
• Prepare and present reports to senior management on issues influencing evaluation and reserves.
