Job summary

Canto is building a modern, scalable in-house legal function focused on commercial contracting, governance, and data privacy. This role partners with Sales, Finance and the executive team to accelerate deal cycles while controlling risk.

As the first in-house commercial counsel, you will implement CLM systems, guide standard terms, and leverage AI tools to streamline review and approvals across the US and international teams.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of legal experience in SaaS or technology, in-house or with law firms.
• Strong experience negotiating commercial SaaS agreements (MSAs, subscriptions, DPAs, NDAs).
• Working knowledge of data privacy frameworks (GDPR/CCPA) and related regs.
• Proven ability to build processes and scale a modern in-house legal function.

Responsibilities

• Drive end-to-end commercial contracting and sales enablement.
• Lead contracting operations, including CLM implementation and templates.
• Leverage AI tools for contract review and workflow automation.
• Oversee vendor relationships, privacy matters, and regulatory alignment.
• Partner with Sales, Security, Product, Finance and executives on evolving requirements.
