Job summary

Cass Health is seeking a Coding Specialist to ensure accurate, compliant coding of hospital, clinic, and professional services. You’ll review documentation, assign codes, and support clean claim submission under guidance from Revenue Integrity leadership.

The role emphasizes adherence to coding guidelines, collaboration with clinical departments, and ongoing education to stay current with regulations and payer policies. Hybrid/Remote options available after probation.

Qualifications

• Ability to research coding questions and interpret authoritative coding guidance.
• Strong understanding of coding regulations, reimbursement methodologies, and compliance requirements.
• Ability to identify documentation gaps and initiate compliant provider queries.

Responsibilities

• Review health records and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS codes.
• Apply coding guidelines and payer requirements.
• Sequence diagnoses and procedures and abstract data into EHRs.
• Review and resolve coding edits; escalate complex issues.
• Initiate provider queries when information is incomplete or ambiguous.
• Collaborate with Revenue Integrity and other teams to resolve billing concerns.
• Provide coding expertise for corrections, appeals, or denials.
• Analyze denials and trends to identify education opportunities.
• Participate in coding audits and corrective actions.
• Maintain productivity, accuracy, and turnaround times.
• Stay current on coding regulations and updates.
• Contribute to coding education materials and documentation guidance.
• Document coding decisions and research findings clearly.
