Job summary

Saint Joseph Health System is seeking a Health Information Specialist to analyze patient clinical and billing data, identify documentation gaps, and implement denial prevention strategies to improve revenue cycle performance.

The role requires coding credentials, a minimum of 3 years in healthcare coding and strong knowledge of medical terminology and data entry. Remote work options, comprehensive benefits, and tuition support are offered.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Licensure: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC/COC or other coding credential required.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant coding and charge control work in hospital/physician practice; revenue cycle, billing, coding or patient financial services.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-depth analysis of patient clinical and billing data to identify documentation and coding gaps.
• Develop action plans for denial prevention based on root cause analysis findings.
• Promote revenue cycle efficiency, data integrity and compliance with billing/regulatory guidelines.
• Collaborate with intra- and inter-departmental teams on audits, root cause analysis and improvements.
