Job summary

Inova Health System is seeking a dedicated Coding Improvement Coordinator to join the Physician Billing team. This full-time day-shift role allows remote work for eligible states with standard office hours Monday through Friday.

The coordinator will lead coding education, perform validation reviews, train new coders and staff, and help minimize errors to optimize reimbursement. A strong attention to detail and EPIC proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 5 years of coding and/or audit experience required.
• Must have CCS/CCS-P/CPC/COC upon hire.
• Must obtain CPMA or CEMA within six months of hire or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate educational opportunities and in-service sessions for coding staff to address opportunities for improvement.
• Provide on-site and remote education; identify needs and coordinate in-service education or recommendations for claim edits, warnings, and hard stops in EPIC.
• Assist with training and performance audits of new Coders; perform second-level coding validation reviews.
• Provide training to coding validation staff, departments, and physicians when necessary.
• Demonstrate attention to detail to minimize coding errors and optimize reimbursement.
• Review unlisted codes for appropriateness and educate on proper selection to minimize unlisted codes.
• Review coder queues and identify charges entered into incorrect departments or not populated correctly.
• Delete erroneous charges for providers not employed by Inova Health System; identify trends needing EPIC intervention.
