Job summary

Optum is seeking a remote Compliance Coding Lead to maintain expert knowledge of outpatient coding and auditing, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local requirements. You will partner with regulators and internal stakeholders to mitigate risks, deliver training, and drive quality improvements across coding staff.

The role requires 3+ years in outpatient coding/auditing, plus CPC/CCS/RHIT/RHIA certifications. Strong Excel/EMR skills and collaboration with quality leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• AAPC or AHIMA (CCS, CPC, RHIT or RHIA) certification.
• 3+ years of outpatient facility coding and auditing experience.
• 1+ year collaborating with quality leadership to improve reimbursement and coding accuracy.
• 1+ year experience with computer assisted coding technologies and EMR coding workflow.
• Intermediate proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

Responsibilities

• Maintain expert knowledge of coding operations and practices across staff.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, policies, and ethics.
• Communicate impact of compliance issues to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with regulators to address compliance concerns.
• Conduct internal audits to identify process gaps and risks.
• Provide data reporting and education topics for coders.
