Job summary

OSF HealthCare is hiring a Coding Auditor to review coding and documentation for accuracy and compliance. You will validate ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS coding, support DRG billing, and respond to external audits to defend OSF coded data.

Requires 3 years of hospital coding experience, and certifications such as RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CMA/CPC (AHIMA-CCS within 12 months). Remote options available in Illinois and beyond.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Health Information Management or Bachelor’s degree in health related field.
• RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CMA, CPC or AHIMA-CCS certification; AHIMA-CCS within 12 months of hire.
• 3 years of hospital or professional coding experience.
• Advanced ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS knowledge; medical terminology and anatomy.

Responsibilities

• Perform coding and documentation reviews to ensure data quality.
• Validate accurate coding and charging per guidelines to ensure compliance.
• Respond to external coding audits and DRG billing denials; write appeals.
• Research coding requirements using encoders and publications.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding software toolset.
