Job summary

CAI is seeking a Cobol Developer to build a new pooled-account structure inside a running z/OS core, remotely. This contract role requires strong enterprise COBOL, JCL, and VSAM experience, with familiarity in NaturalOne and related tools.

Work-from-home options allow flexible scheduling for a complex financial processing environment. Responsibilities include redesigning account structures, extending batch cycles, auditing controls, and producing test data and runbooks.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Enterprise COBOL development in z/OS
• 5+ years with NaturalOne; development, debugging and deployment
• Experience with Natural programs, subprograms, and maps
• 3+ years of JCL development and production support
• 3+ years in financial/accounting systems development or support
• 3+ years with VSAM and Adabas including file design
• 3+ years tracing undocumented logic through copybooks, call chains, and job streams
• Preferred: experience with cash management, account pooling, or treasury apps
• Preferred: CA-7 scheduling and batch operations
• Preferred: REXX, Python, or Java
• Degree in CS or equivalent practical experience

Responsibilities

• Analyze current account master, posting, and balance-maintenance programs to identify where composite reservoir accounts must be recognized
• Design and code the new account type end to end: master file and table structures, opening/closing, linkage, sweep logic, and balance derivation
• Modify batch COBOL programs and JCL and extend nightly/month-end cycles without lengthening batch window
• Add new CRAs to audit trail, reports, and reconciliation controls with accounting stakeholders
• Produce test data, unit and regression test packs, and parallel-run comparisons against production output
• Support implementation, conversion of in-scope accounts, and on-call during first cycles
• Leave behind documentation, data-flow notes, and runbook updates for support team
