BairesDev is hiring a COBOL Developer to maintain and modernize mission-critical applications on IBM mainframe systems. You will be a key technical resource ensuring stability and evolution of core business logic in large-scale environments.

Qualifications

4+ years of experience in Software Engineering focusing on mainframe environments.
Proven expertise in COBOL, CICS, and DB2.
Strong proficiency in JCL, VSAM, and mainframe batch/online processing.
Hands-on IBM mainframe experience in banking, insurance, or government sectors.
Experience modernizing legacy COBOL applications to contemporary standards.
Advanced proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

Design, code, test, and debug COBOL programs for batch and online CICS processing.
Maintain and optimize data access using DB2, VSAM, and JCL for performance and integrity.
Analyze legacy code to identify modernization and refactoring opportunities.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mainframe apps with cloud-native architectures.
Provide production support including root-cause analysis and remediation.
Participate in Agile ceremonies to deliver high-quality software updates.
