Job summary

Seneca Resources is seeking a Mainframe Developer to support and modernize critical enterprise applications within an IBM mainframe environment. You'll design, develop, test, and maintain COBOL programs, JCL jobs, and batch-processing applications on IBM z/OS.

You will work with DB2 and SQL, support online transaction processing with CICS, and participate in modernization initiatives that link legacy platforms with modern tech. Strong SDLC understanding and collaboration skills are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Mainframe Development or related field.
• Hands-on COBOL development experience.
• Experience with JCL and batch processing.
• Working knowledge of DB2 and SQL.
• Experience with or exposure to CICS environments.
• Understanding of SDLC.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain applications in an IBM z/OS mainframe environment.
• Develop and support COBOL programs, JCL jobs, and batch-processing apps.
• Work with DB2 databases, including SQL development and data retrieval.
• Support online transaction processing using CICS.
• Analyze requirements and implement enhancements and fixes.
• Troubleshoot production incidents, batch failures, and performance issues.
• Review logs and abends to identify root causes and resolve issues.
• Participate in unit, integration, and regression testing.
• Create and maintain technical docs and system specs.
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, QA, and infra teams through SDLC.
• Contribute to mainframe modernization and system integration initiatives.
• Provide production support and participate in issue resolution.
