Job summary

Optum is seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to build and manage resilient cloud-native platforms across Azure and AWS. The role focuses on DevOps practices, observability, automation, and security to improve platform reliability and operational excellence. Telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on Kubernetes production experience.
• 3+ years of monitoring/observability tools (Azure Monitor, Splunk, Dynatrace, Grafana, Prometheus).
• 3+ years of Azure experience including AKS, ACR, VNets, NSGs, App Gateway, Front Door, Traffic Manager.
• 3+ years able to participate in 24/7 on-call rotation with documented procedures.
• 2+ years scripting in Python, Go, PowerShell, or Bash for automation.

Responsibilities

• Build, operate, and support IaaS and PaaS infrastructure in Azure and AWS.
• Define and report on SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs with partner teams.
• Develop and support platform services including provisioning, configuration, deployment.
• Implement cloud-native deployments on Azure AKS, ACR, and related services.
• Integrate with centralized logging, monitoring, and incident management systems.
• Configure observability tools and dashboards for production reliability.
• Design and deploy AI-powered automation to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Participate in on-call rotations and perform root cause analysis.
