Job summary

Piper Companies seeks a Cloud Engineer for a fully remote, 4-5 month contract focused on cloud modernization, infrastructure automation, and CI/CD support. You will design, deploy, and automate AWS environments using Terraform and IaC best practices, while collaborating with DevOps, software, and infrastructure teams.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in cloud/DevOps roles, hands-on AWS, Terraform, and scripting with Python, Bash, or PowerShell, plus experience building pipelines with GitHub

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Infrastructure Engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Strong experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code methodologies.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
• Experience with scripting languages including Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Knowledge of cloud networking, security, and automation best practices.
• Experience troubleshooting cloud-based applications and infrastructure.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills within remote team environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure within AWS environments.
• Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform.
• Build, enhance, and support CI/CD pipelines for application and infrastructure deployments.
• Automate cloud operations, provisioning, monitoring, and maintenance processes.
• Develop scripts using Python, Bash, or PowerShell to streamline engineering and operational workflows.
• Collaborate with DevOps, Software Engineering, and Infrastructure teams to implement cloud best practices.
• Troubleshoot deployment, infrastructure, and automation issues across cloud environments.
• Support cloud security, compliance, scalability, and performance initiatives.
• Document cloud architecture, deployment procedures, and operational processes.
• Participate in cloud migration, modernization, and optimization efforts.
