Job summary

Mactores is seeking a hands-on DevOps engineer for its infrastructure modernization work, focusing on moving legacy workloads to AWS and streamlining operations. You will automate infrastructure, manage CI/CD, and enable robust monitoring across enterprise apps and data platforms.

This remote freelance role embeds with delivery teams, sets client expectations, and delivers automated, reliable releases. Strong IaC, Linux/Windows, and AWS skills are required.

Qualifications

• 4+ years using Terraform for IaaC in enterprise settings.
• 4+ years of configuration management for large-scale customers.
• 4+ years Linux or Windows administration experience.
• 4+ years with git including branching/merging strategies.
• 2+ years working with AWS infrastructure and services.
• 2+ years with cloud automation tools (Ansible, Chef).
• Exposure to Kubernetes, ECS, EKS on AWS.
• Proactive focus on reliability and follow-through.

Responsibilities

• Automate infrastructure creation using Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
• Run application configuration management and enable IaC through deployment tools.
• Own and manage the build and release cycle for customer projects.
• Share responsibility for deploying releases and other operations.
• Improve operations infrastructure: Jenkins clusters, Bitbucket, monitoring tools, and metrics like Graphite/Grafana.
• Provide operational support for the engineering team and migrate legacy infra to the cloud.
• Establish and enforce operational best practices including health checks.
• Build scalable infrastructure for data platforms (EMR, Redshift, SageMaker).
• Develop CI pipeline and train the team in DevOps practices.
