Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a Technical Writer for a fully remote contract aligned to EST or CST hours. You will create and manage technical content, improve internal knowledge resources, and support communication across cloud operations and platform engineering teams.

The role requires 3+ years in technical writing, experience with AWS, and proficiency with Confluence, Jira, GitHub, and Markdown. Strong ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences is essential, with FedRAMP exposure

Qualifications

• 3+ years of technical writing, documentation management, or knowledge management.
• Experience with AWS services such as IAM, EC2, VPC, S3, and CloudWatch.
• Experience using Confluence and Jira for documentation and workflow tracking.
• Familiar with GitHub, Markdown, version control concepts, and documentation review processes.
• Strong ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience supporting cloud ops, platform engineering, or enterprise environments preferred.
• Exposure to FedRAMP environments or related coordination is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain technical documentation, user guides, procedures, and knowledge base content for cloud platforms.
• Partner with engineering to translate complex info into clear materials for varied audiences.
• Track platform changes, releases, and known issues in a structured way.
• Gather requirements and provide guidance, ensuring follow-up with stakeholders.
• Manage documentation updates in Jira, Confluence, and GitHub to maintain accuracy.
