Job summary

Cardinal Health is seeking a Cloud Database Engineer to support WaveMark Solutions, a cloud-based healthcare application. You will own production and non-production reliability, uptime, performance, security, automation of maintenance tasks and deployments, and disaster recovery for cloud databases.

You will collaborate with software development and IT teams to drive automation, observability, resilience, and continuous delivery practices, while ensuring compliance with healthcare standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
• 5+ years of experience managing production Oracle databases in a regulated healthcare environment preferred.
• Experience with Oracle database administration and cloud platforms (AWS RDS or GCP) preferred.
• Knowledge of database automation, scripting, and deployment processes preferred.
• Familiarity with observability frameworks and telemetry-driven operations preferred.
• Understanding of site reliability engineering principles (SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, automated remediation) preferred.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD platforms and Infrastructure as Code preferred.
• Understanding healthcare compliance standards such as HIPAA, FedRAMP, HITRUST preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL databases in managed cloud environments.
• Build and manage monitoring, auditing, logging, and alerting systems.
• Establish operational standards, documentation, and runbooks.
• Support application deployments and database releases.
• Analyze and optimize database performance across environments.
• Perform root cause analysis of performance incidents.
• Design and automate database refresh and data movement processes.
• Collaborate on data governance, patching, and access controls.
• Partner with security teams on data governance and compliance.
