Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a qualified Senior Medical Coder to lead proactive coding education and onboarding for Physicians and APPs. The role requires strong Epic system experience and a deep knowledge of ICD/CPT/HCPCS coding guidelines.

You will review clinician records, resolve complex coding issues, and collaborate across departments to improve documentation and reimbursement accuracy while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 4 years of expert-level professional coding experience.
• RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, or CPC certifications preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of ICD/CPT/HCPCS coding guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive coding education to clinicians via newsletters, scorecards, and presentations.
• Lead onboarding and compliance training for Physicians/APPs, Locum Tenens, residents, and students.
• Review clinician records and perform spot checks for accuracy, escalating issues.
• Serve as primary coding inquiries contact, coordinating with teams to resolve complex issues.
• Monitor Epic work queues to ensure timely charge submissions and reduce denials.
• Collaborate across CMOs, Clinical Informatics, Risk Adjustment, and Population Health.
