Job summary

Yale Cancer Center in New Haven is seeking a Pre-Award Budget and Financial Analyst to manage Medicare Coverage Analyses (MCAs) and research budgets for clinical trials and sponsored studies. You will develop, review, and negotiate budgets with sponsors and CROs, ensuring compliance with policies and financial viability.

The role collaborates with investigators, study teams, CROs, and legal teams to align terms with study requirements while maintaining audit-ready documentation and GAAP

Qualifications

• Experience in clinical research budgeting, coverage analysis, billing and related areas.
• Experience developing MCAs and clinical trial budgets; negotiating budgets with sponsors/CROs.
• Effective project management across multiple studies; strong time management.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and stakeholder management; able to work remotely.
• Proficient with MS Office and CTMS/EMR systems; data interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Financial Analysis and Reporting: Analyzes and synthesizes information and designs and creates accurate and timely reports that add value to the management of University operations. Advises and applies GAAP to specialized areas to properly report out on financial conditions.
• Financial methods & systems: Contributes to planning and improvement of practices, processes and systems. Collaborates with internal and external contacts to carry out department goals.
• Accounting and Reconciliation: Records enterprise or subsystem transactions and verifies entries to ensure balance sheets and income statements are accurate.
• Strategic Resource: Translates department finance goals into objectives; identifies stakeholders and communicates for changes.
• Compliance and Risk Management: Establishes internal controls and ensures adherence to requirements; supports governance and audit readiness.
• Mentors, leads and/or supervises staff; May perform other duties as assigned.
• May include other duties as assigned.
